2:00 PM | | Time Zone: | Eastern Time | | | Length of Session: | 1 Hour | | Target Audience: | Deployment Leaders and Champions, Master Black Belts, Black Belts | | Description: | You can't teach a kid to ride a bike sitting in his seat in a classroom. Teaching Lean Six Sigma techniques carries the same challenge - students have to transform their 'head knowledge' into skills and abilities. Trainers and coaches often struggle with how to best mentor students through this transformation, especially across dispersed environments. Lenovo and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee have successfully overcome this dilemma by freeing up classroom time with high impact e-Learning and re-focusing instructors on structured, individualized coaching.
Join Dr. Diane Reddy, Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Keith Schellenberger, Lean Six Sigma Consultant at Lenovo, as they share their experiences in implementing intrusive coaching models. Learn how intrusive coaching can personalize e-Learning, increase knowledge retention and boost Belts' productivity and project completion rates.
Topics to be discussed include:- What is intrusive coaching?
- What are the benefits?
- How can intrusive coaching be combined with e-Learning to increase personal attention to students?
- Why is intrusive coaching critical to Lean Six Sigma deployments?
- How do you implement an intrusive coaching model?
Dr. Diane Reddy, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee In her 26 years teaching at UW-M, Professor Reddy often has pushed to make learning more interactive. She has been recognized for her development of U-Pace, an innovative course format that combines self-paced online learning with intrusive coaching. In two studies, U-Pace students performed significantly better on the same cumulative test than students who took the same course in a traditional classroom format. In the most recent study, U-Pace students scored 21% higher on the proctored cumulative exam.
Keith Schellenberger, Lean Six Sigma Consultant at Lenovo Last year, Lenovo used Lean Six Sigma methodologies to streamline materials management, reduce manufacturing cycle times, and focus efforts to simplify the product portfolio. As a result, Lenovo improved serviceability of its notebook and desktop computers by 8% compared to the previous year. The Company has aggressively evolved its global Lean Six Sigma culture by implementing a Blended Learning model with intrusive coaching. As a result, Lenovo increased their Belt certification rate from 15% to 92%, increased project completion rates, and reduced training and travel costs.
