Applied Biosystems faced a significant challenge to it most rapidly growing/changing business - Improve the order fulfillment time (order to receipt) and reliability or stunt growth/lose market share.

Our discussion today will focus on tackling a major business value chain and redesigning it to compete and win - the Assay Order Fulfillment Time.

Through this journey we will focus on the use of the Process Excellence methodology (Lean and Six Sigma) in conjunction with SCOR (Supply Chain Operations Reference Model) to understand, analyze, and reinvent the entire business. We will follow the improvement path through the portal, order entry, planning, manufacturing, and distribution and touching upon topics such as lean manufacturing cells, Sales and Operations planning, hierarchical score cards, IT infrastructure redesign, and supply chain design/customer segmentation. Most importantly, we will show how an integrated approach diagnosed the problems, developed a series of interlinked projects, engaged the entire organization, and rescued the business from decay.
