Applying DFSS Tools in the Requirements Analysis and Design Optimization Processes
January 10, 2005
The objective in product development is to create a product that meets its customers' needs, but these needs are typically not met when variation in parts, process, or user environments occurs. Therefore it becomes critical to predict and reduce the impact of this variation early in the development process, well before hardware is built. In this workshop we will show how a defined set of customer requirements can be represented mathematically and used to develop an optimized design that satisfies all of the stakeholders needs. Allocation of tolerances, analysis of performance based on manufacturing capabilities, and optimization of multiple dimensions of the product will be addressed, and the methods to get quantitative results will be explored.
